Innisfil Studio Tour has been operating since 1993 and is an annual event in the town of Innisfil.
It takes place on the first weekend of November each year and is hosted by numerous artisans who invite the public to browse through their studios. Many of the studios are located in fine periodic homes that add immensely to the visual impact of the tour.
The town of Innisfil is comprised of numerous villages such as Cookstown, Stroud, Thornton, Lefroy and Alcona, and is located south of the city of Barrie, Ontario.
Each year there are numerous studios involved, with guest artists at many of the locations. The public is invited to meet with artists to discuss their art/craft. All artwork is original of high quality, and must go through a juried process before being accepted into the tour.
As co-ordinator of Innisfil Studio Tour, I have organized this event for the last eight years. I contact artists each spring to confirm their commitment to the project. This includes previous participants as well as new artists. Samples of work are submitted to be juried. Thousands of people have attended this event over the course of the last eleven years.
These people come from the immediate community as well as many other areas of the province. Innisfil Studio Tour has experienced great reviews each year, and we anticipate continued success in the years to come.
This tour is already a well-established event in our community as this year will be the seventh year it has taken place.
Innisfil Studio Tour is a very popular artistic happening in our town. It allows the public to experience and enjoy the talents of the artists and artisans of rural Ontario in a relaxed environment. Artists are able to promote their work on a personal level and visitors can learn about the arts and realize the wealth of talents that exists in the arts community.
